The Krystle Clear Method

Piano education the way it was always meant to feel.

Built on the belief that every person is already musical — our job is to draw it out through clarity, joy, and intention.

Sixprinciples behind
every lesson
Weeklyone new lesson,
practiced daily
  1. 01

    Play Before Perfect

Curiosity drives deeper learning than correctness. Students explore and discover — building confidence before technique.

  2. 02

    Short & Often

Micro-practice sessions of 3–5 minutes daily outperform weekly marathons. The brain builds music during rest, not drill.

  3. 03

    Library-First Learning

High-quality video lessons recorded once, available forever. Students return to material at their own pace — no pressure.

  4. 04

    Parent as Partner

For young learners, parents are the most powerful teachers. We train you to facilitate — not instruct — with confidence.

  5. 05

    Keyboard Geography First

Students learn to navigate by feel before reading a note. Knowing where to go unlocks everything else naturally.

  6. 06

    End on a Win

Every session closes on something the student loves. The emotional memory of how practice ends carries into the next.

Questions? Read the FAQClose the FAQ
Questions families ask
Before you join.
Short answers to the questions parents ask most. The full policies are in the Lesson Agreement you'll receive before your first month.
Getting started
How does enrollment work?
Every student is given a regular weekly lesson day and time that's reserved just for them. Families can join at any time of year. If you already know about scheduling conflicts, tell us within 14 days of enrolling and they won't count as missed lessons.
What is the founding rate?
Our first families — 10 on the Hybrid plan and 5 on Local In-Person — lock in a lower monthly rate for as long as their membership stays continuously active. A pause of up to one month keeps it, and the summer break doesn't count as a pause. The founding rate ends only if the membership ends.
Do you teach adults?
Adult lessons are coming soon. Right now lessons and in-home visits are for children. If you'd like to be first to know when adult lessons open, request to join and tell us it's for you — we'll add you to the waitlist.
Tuition
What does monthly tuition cover?
In-Person plan. Tuition covers the school year: 34 weekly lessons between September and June, with travel to your home included. Your payment is the same every month from September through June, then changes to the summer rate for July and August. Because of holidays, some months have three lessons and some have five, but your payment stays the same.

Summer. In-home lessons pause in July and August. Your membership stays active at the Video Membership rate ($59 a month instead of your regular tuition), so you keep the course, the Checkpoint Reviews and your reserved lesson time. If you'd like lessons over the summer, just ask.

Hybrid plan. Tuition covers four private Zoom lessons a month — one a week at your usual day and time — up to two coaching videos from Krystle as needed, and the Video Membership. Hybrid and Video plans are billed monthly, all year round.
Do lessons run in the summer?
Lessons run September to June. Over the summer your membership continues at the Video rate, and you can keep taking lessons if you'd like — just ask. In May we email every family the three choices: take the summer off, keep weekly lessons at your regular rate, or add a summer lesson package.
What if a payment doesn't go through?
We'll let you know right away. If it isn't resolved within 7 days, lessons pause until it is, and a $15 late fee may apply.
Will the price change?
Only with 30 days' written notice, and never for founding families while their membership stays active.
Missed lessons
What happens if we miss a lesson?
Because your weekly time is reserved for your child, missed lessons aren't refunded or credited. But you have two ways to keep going: attend the lesson online via Zoom or FaceTime at the usual time, or send a short practice video through the website by lesson time and Krystle replies with personal feedback within two business days.
What if my child is sick?
Please keep them home if they have symptoms of anything contagious. If they feel up to it, they can attend online, or you can use the practice-video option. For home visits, just let us know before Krystle arrives if anyone in the household is unwell.
What if we're running late, or forget?
A late arrival gets the rest of the lesson; lessons end at the scheduled time so the next family isn't affected. If no one attends in person or online and no practice video has come in by lesson time, that lesson is a no-show and isn't eligible for a makeup.
What if Krystle has to cancel?
She'll make it up at a time that works for you within the same or the following month. If that's not possible, you receive a tuition credit for the lesson.
In-home lessons
What do we need to have ready at home?
A quiet space, the instrument ready to play, and pets settled somewhere else during the lesson. A parent or guardian is in the home for the whole lesson — Krystle never teaches a child alone.
Where do you travel to?
Homes within our local service area, with travel included in tuition. For a home farther out, we agree a per-visit travel fee at your consultation, and it's written into your plan before you start.
Can siblings have lessons too?
Yes. Each child gets their own lesson, one at a time. Siblings can have back-to-back lessons on the same visit at our sibling rate — ask us at your consultation.
What about bad weather?
If travel isn't safe, Krystle may switch that week's visit to an online lesson at the same time, so nothing is lost.
What instrument do we need?
A piano or a digital piano at home, ideally with full-size, touch-sensitive keys, so your child can practice between lessons.
The website
What's included in the website membership?
The video course for your child's level, a personal Checkpoint Review from Krystle at the end of every module, the Lesson Book and practice materials as printable PDFs, the Kids Zone and the games. The account belongs to the parent, and children use it with you.
Does it cover more than one course?
Each Video Membership includes one course. The Family plan ($89 a month) includes every course for up to three children in your household, and the Hybrid and Local In-Person plans include the course for your child's level.
What happens to the videos we send?
They're videos of your child, so we treat them carefully. Krystle views them only to teach. They're stored privately and deleted 90 days after her review, you can delete one at any time, and we never use a student's video, name or image in marketing without your separate written permission.
Leaving
How do we cancel?
Give 30 days' written notice so we can offer your lesson time to another family. Tuition is due through the notice period, and a founding rate ends when the membership ends.
Can KCM end lessons?
With 30 days' notice, or immediately for non-payment or unsafe conduct. Any prepaid tuition for lessons not taught is refunded.

Krystle — Founder & Lead Instructor
About Krystle

Teaching piano isn't just what I do —
it's who I am.

I started Krystle Clear Music because I believed something deeply: that every person — from a curious 2-year-old to an adult who always meant to learn — deserves a path into music that actually fits their life.

The Krystle Clear Method is built from years of teaching real students, noticing what worked and what didn't, and asking one question constantly: how do we make this feel like joy instead of obligation?

This studio is boutique by design. Every lesson, every resource, every game is made with intention — because clarity and artistry are not opposites. They are the same thing.
